Recently, four laboratories including Water and Wastewater Treatment Laboratory and Membrane Separation Technology Laboratory, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Jiageng College, Xiamen University have all been completed and put into use. On the morning of July 19th, these four laboratories welcomed the first batch of students.
Under the guidance of the teacher Huang Mingqiang of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, the students began the four-day internship course of "Air Pollution Control Engineering". This new internship course arranged for students to determine the ammonia in indoor air by indophenol blue spectrophotometry, venturi dust collector, gas hood model drawing, pickling exhaust gas purification system design and ozone generator calibration experiment. The content of the internship involves indoor air pollution detection, dust removal treatment, desulfurization treatment, equipment assembly and operation, and the use of analysis and detection instruments. It can not only enable students to learn and apply, clarify the purpose of learning, but also train students' practical ability to deepen students ’ The understanding of the basic concepts, phenomena, rules and principles of the air pollution control project enables students to master various experimental skills and operation methods of instruments and equipment, and cultivate students' ability to solve technical problems independently.
It is reported that with the gradual improvement of various supporting equipment such as water treatment laboratory and membrane technology laboratory, the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering will carry out more experimental courses in these laboratories.
