In the printing process, uneven ink color is a common issue, often caused by improper balance between ink and water. This can happen when too much or too little water is used, or when the ink distribution before printing is inconsistent. Here’s how to address this problem effectively.
Solution: It's essential to control the amount of water added carefully, following the principle of "more ink, more water; less ink, less water." Avoid adding excessive water, as it can cause the ink to emulsify, leading to ink transfer issues and blank spots on the print. The size and layout of the graphics on the plate, the content density, and the printing speed all influence the required water level. For example, when the graphic area is large, densely arranged, and the printing speed is slow, more water is usually needed. Conversely, smaller areas or faster speeds may require less water.
If there's too much water, the printed material might feel damp, and water marks could appear on the cylinder. To reduce excess moisture, you can increase the number of overprinted sheets, use white paper to "wrap" the water roller, or adjust the water application speed. After removing the water, wipe the roller to eliminate the "excess water" issue. If these steps don’t work, consider removing the water roller and cleaning it thoroughly.
From the perspective of the printing plate, if the black areas are not bright and the print appears full, the water level is likely correct. When the water is just right, if the ink coverage is high, you can "wrap" the ink around the large areas, while applying more ink to the smaller sections—always ensuring even distribution. During the inking process, make sure to adjust the top wire under the ink fountain promptly, regulate the ink supply locally, and set the ink fountain angle and roller position properly to maintain overall ink control.
