Experiments confirmed that instant noodle bowl packaging security fluorescent material will not migrate

Recently, news about the external packaging of instant noodle bowls or fluorescents that may be moved to the inner layer of contaminated food has caused consumer concerns. So, instant noodle bowl fluorescent really exceeded it? Will these fluorescents infiltrate into the inner layer and endanger health? In response, a scientific demonstration was given by the College of Food Science and Nutritional Engineering at China Agricultural University: At present, some commercially available instant noodle bowls contain fluorescent substances, but brewing does not result in the migration of fluorescent substances into foods. Instant noodles bowls are safe and this type of eating is safe.

Some instant noodle bowls contain fluorescent instant noodle bowl packaging is actually divided into two layers inside and outside, separated by the middle. According to the national regulations, the inner paper bowl must be made of raw pulp material to ensure food safety because of its direct contact with food. The outer paper bowl is not in direct contact with food, and there are no security risks. So, does the outer layer of instant noodles contain fluorescent material?

For the doubts of consumers, the College of Food Science and Nutrition Engineering of China Agricultural University conducted the experiment. First of all, the experimenter selected several types of instant noodles that were most widely sold on the market, and used fluorescent materials to absorb invisible ultraviolet light. The characteristics of the ultraviolet light was obviously bright, and several kinds of instant noodles were subjected to a violet light irradiation experiment.

The experimental results show that most brands of instant noodle bowls contain no fluorescent materials, but some brands do contain fluorescent substances that appear bright under violet illumination.

Professor Shen Qun, a doctor and professor of the College of Food Science and Nutritional Engineering at China Agricultural University, explained that the functions of the instant noodle bowls are not the same. The outer packagings must have functions such as pressure resistance, water resistance, and aesthetics, and have a protective effect on foods. The use of food-grade paper in the inner packaging is sufficient to ensure food safety.

The suspicion that fluorescers will not be moved to the inner layer to contaminate food consumers is concentrated on whether the fluorescent material on the outer paper bowl will migrate the inner layer of contaminated food. When eating, does the human mouth come in contact with the fluorescer when it touches the outer bowl?

In this regard, the experimenter simulated the instant noodles brewing environment, distilled water, acetic acid, hexane were poured into several instant noodle bowls. One hour after infiltration, a violet light irradiation experiment was performed on the gauze soaked in the solution.

The results showed that, regardless of whether or not the outer bowl of the bowl contains fluorescent substances, these fluorescent substances do not contaminate the food with the brewing inside the bowl. That is, the instant noodle bowl is safe.

Shen Qun believes that if the outer packaging uses pulp paper, it will cause waste of environmental resources. "From an environmental conservation point of view, the use of recycled paper is fine."

It is understood that China's instant noodles account for more than 50% of the global total. During the more than 50 years of development of instant noodles, there have never been any food safety incidents, and it has worldwide safety experience.

Experts recommend trusting big brands At present, problems in the field of food safety are occurring almost every day, and all kinds of food insecurity information flood the society. For such information, it is difficult for consumers to distinguish between true and false.

Hu Xiaosong, deputy director of the China Food Science and Technology Society, believes that the public’s fear of being blind to food safety is too high. It is recommended that the regulatory authorities inform the public about the impact on physical health when releasing food safety test reports. Only publish the product pass rate, thereby reducing the emergence of panic.

Shen Qun said that large-scale enterprises above the scale are strictly supervised in the production process, and consumers should believe that these products are safe. "For food safety, consumers should believe that the vast majority of food, big companies can trust the brand, do not panic too much, we must believe that the government has supervision." Shen Qun said.
