Attofina Chemicals recently announced that it has developed a technology for the manufacture of fluoropolymer flexible foam or rigid foam. The company states that this technology uses KYNAR(R) polyvinylidene fluoride resin to produce foams of various thicknesses and shapes. Foams produced from KYNAR resin have strong chemical resistance, are stable at high temperatures, have very little smoke, are very resistant to water, are UV resistant and weatherable, are excellent in mechanical properties, and are resistant to radiation and have low ion adsorption (high purity). Products manufactured using this technology have potential applications for fire resistance, chemical filtration, and high-purity polishing materials on electronic equipment.
