Tiko3D Officially Launches Tike 3D Printer at $179

Two weeks ago, Tiko3D, a start-up company from Ontario, Canada, presented a very beautiful Delta-style 3D printer at the SXSW (southwest south) conference when the company declared that the machine was priced at US$179, and Coming soon on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. Today, Tiko3D has fulfilled their promise to formally launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter on March 30, 2015. The Tiko 3D printer is priced at US$179 per unit. The company claims that even at this price they can still profit. In fact, the top 100 supporters can even get one at a favorable price of 99 dollars. The company disclosed the detailed technical specifications of the Tiko 3D printer and explained what exactly they used to make the machine's manufacturing costs so low. It is understood that the Tiko 3D printer uses a special integrated body frame. In particular, the track that controls the movement of the extrusion head is implanted into the chassis, which makes the body more stable, ensures the reliability and accuracy of the 3D printing operation, and also reduces the manufacturing cost. In addition, most of the major components of the Tiko 3D printer are newly designed by the development team and are absolutely unique. For example, their innovative passively-cooled liquefier eliminates the need for the extruder to cool down the extruder; it's like its ingenious internal wire tray structure and the ability to use almost any non-proprietary wire. This kind of 3D printer is definitely different from any similar device we see in the market. Here are the general specifications and other features of the Tiko 3D printer: Machine weight: 3.7 pounds Machine size: 15.4 x 8.7 x 9.3 inches Maximum throughput: 2.27 liters or 138.3 cubic inches Available materials: PLA, ABS, nylon, HIPS, and more layer resolution of 1.75 mm wire diameter: 50-250 microns Software: Browser, cloud-based add-on: Titanium nozzle, WiFi connection, enclosed construction room with automatic closing mechanism. The 3D printer started a crowdfunding campaign at 1:00 PM Eastern Time on March 30th, and raised $80,000 in 90 minutes. At the time of writing by Tiangong Press (only a few hours later), it has already exceeded $158,000, easily exceeding its fund-raising target of $100,000. Tiko3D intends to start production of this machine in November this year after extensive testing and optimization. If all goes according to plan, the first Tiko 3D printers will also be shipped in November. "We can set prices higher, but we hope everyone has a Tiko," the company said. (Editor)
