After all, rare paintings are rarely seen, let alone in their hands. Even if it is a precious collection stored in a museum, in order to reduce the damage of its display, high-simulation replicas are sometimes used instead of exhibitions. In the Wenbo community, the reproduction of ancient paintings and calligraphy is very common. There are several kinds of copying methods: artificial copying, woodblock watermarking, Feiluo printing, and photocopying. The advent and rapid development of cameras have contributed to the reproduction of images. For instance, the Miura version, the copy and reproduction mechanism of the ancient Japanese painting and calligraphy, and the use of modern printing of Yachang art, etc., all use the camera to obtain a complete picture of the object of reproduction. Compared to these methods of reproduction that have benefited from the development of science and technology, the woodblock watermarking method has always followed the traditional process. "Chou Xiang Yu Mu, Yin Zhi Paper" is a poetic summary of this process. Since the founding of Guangxu 26 (1900), Duo Yunxuan Shanghai has been engaged in the woodblock watermarks on letterheads and paintings. It is exquisitely etched with paper. The woodblock watermark is divided into three processes: stroke tracing, engraving and watermarking. In simple terms, a painting is divided into multiple pieces of board engraving. Each board is painted with different shades of ink or color, and then they are accurately printed on the same sheet of paper. After a layer of overprints, the colors of these east and west pieces are combined into one picture. Each process is done by a dedicated master, and it can be said that it is a collection of many people's efforts, which step does not work well, will affect the quality of the work. Watermark woodcuts are still low in output, complicated in technology, and time-consuming. There are not many masters who can engage in this industry, and it takes at least five years to train a professional craftsman.

It can be said that every copy of a piece of work, Duo Yunxuan is holding the attitude of no expense. It takes a lot of time to trace and sculpt the two processes. There are more than 1,700 pieces of “The Bamboo Book of Dharma” and the lithography board took two years to complete. This did not count the tedious work of the previous period. However, the use of a woodblock is quite limited, and it is usually used more than a hundred times. The printing plate may be damaged later. Like some of the engraved exquisite works, such as Gu Yongzhi's long scroll “Luo Shen Fu” lasted for 8 years, only 15 sets were printed, and the “Watermark of the Immortals”, which was the largest woodblock watermark, started from 2001 to the end of this year. Upon completion, 15 sets will also be printed.

Compared to other methods of copying, the woodblock watermark method is the only copy method that can be accurately copied and handmade. The correct trace version, smart knife method, and skilled printing are all based on the artist's personal skills and accomplishments, as well as the awareness of the artwork. The color of paper baskets and the size of the paintings are exactly the same as the original. The pigments use the traditional plants and mineral pigments of Chinese paintings, and the inks are the old inks of the Qing Dynasty. Each step is meticulous, so that there is no difference with the original painting. When ink is drawn across the paper, ink is the fiber that penetrates into the paper, and that texture is something that modern printing cannot achieve. Printing inks can hardly exhibit the “ink and color, colorful, and colorful” effect of ink painting. Ink is endlessly varied and varied.
