Inks are produced by different companies or in different regions. Their color changes and printing characteristics are different. In addition, the printing conditions used by each printing company are also different. In other words, what we do is a tailor-made database. For example, the company has a large number of orders and often has to do post-processing of varnish. In the past, when masters were producing, they had to consider two factors:

1) Change in color tone of prints after drying

2) Hue change after the print has passed through the oil

In order to balance these factors and control the quality of production, the Master often spends a lot of time and wasted a lot of material to adjust the hue of the printed matter. In fact, when we use computer color matching, we can take these two factors into consideration. When setting up a database, we input data with a glossy oil effect. In this way, whenever a glossy oil effect is required, the computer will calculate the formula containing the gloss oil effect data. From this time on, Master will no longer spend a lot of resources to adjust the ink color. If the user or client does not have confidence in the direct production, a trial draft can be made in advance and an IGT printability tester can be used for prepress testing.

This leads to another problem. Since the effect of light oil treatment can be expected, can the paper's color be included? of course can. The paper's color and ink penetration are taken into account, because in the color matching software, it is considered whether the ink/pigment used by the user is transparent. If the printing method depends on the substrate to develop color, then at the same time, the formula will be calculated. Consider the background of the substrate.

On the other hand, different papers have different absorbencies. However, this variable affects the results of our final printing. In the case of book papers, for example, when the Masters printed such papers, they often worried about the change in the color of the ink after drying. This was often a darker color than the printed sheets that had just been produced. Therefore, the color matching system also takes this into consideration, that is, when establishing a database, two types of paper are separately processed. Respectively, coated paper database and non-coated paper database.

White ink and clear ink

In general, with the traditional color matching method, the masters will add a large amount of white ink to dilute the color concentration, or it will be easier to control the color change when the ink is transferred; the other purpose is to increase the hiding power of the ink. The common is to add a large amount of white ink with pink or emulsified color. Color, but in fact does not need to often add white ink. Another benefit of computer coloring is that it can reduce the amount of white ink used, or even eliminate it. This depends on the color of the substrate when it comes to color matching. There are indeed many advantages for the printing plant to eliminate the use of white ink. Because the white ink pigments are coarser and harder than the general ink pigments, the loss of the printing plate will be increased during production, and the printing of the ink itself will sometimes be reduced. Sex, such as abrasion resistance, drying time, etc. On the other hand, the white ink is generally more expensive than the transparent ink, and the cost is also increased.
