According to "Addiction Technology," recently, a team of researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Boston Children's Hospital have developed an innovative medical system that enables doctors to visualize a patient’s heart structure before surgery, significantly improving the safety and precision of heart operations. This groundbreaking system utilizes MRI technology to generate a 3D-printed heart model in just three hours. In contrast, traditional methods required scanning the heart from over 200 different angles, taking nearly 10 hours manually. The new system streamlines the process by analyzing only eight cross-sectional views of the heart. Using a specially designed algorithm, it completes the rest of the work in about an hour, producing a highly accurate 3D printed heart model. The entire process is not only faster but also more intelligent and efficient. Although the technology is still in development, it has already shown great potential. A cardiac surgeon from Boston Children's Hospital is set to demonstrate this 3D-printed heart model technology this fall, marking a major step forward in personalized surgical planning.
