C.1 Preparation and painting of test panels
Unless otherwise specified, each test piece shall be prepared in accordance with the ISO 1514 standard for salt spray test chambers, and then coated with the product or system to be tested in accordance with the prescribed method.
Unless otherwise specified, the back and edges of the panels are also coated with the product or system to be tested.
If the back and edges of the sample are coated differently from the test product, they should have better corrosion resistance than the test product.
C.2 Drying box status adjustment
The coated sample shall be dried according to the specified time and conditions. Unless otherwise specified, it shall be at a temperature of 23 ° C ± 2 ° C and a relative humidity of 50% ± 2%, with air circulation, free from direct sunlight exposure, and the state shall be adjusted for at least 16 h. And then put the test into action as soon as possible.
C.3 Coating thickness
The thickness of the dry coating, measured in μm, is determined by one of the non-destructive methods specified in the Salt Spray Test Chamber Standard ISO 2808.
C.4 Engraving of scratches
Scratches are treated as specified in the Salt Spray Test Chamber Standard ISO 17872. All scratches shall be at least 25 mm between each edge and scratch of the test panel.
The scratch should be a straight line through the coating to the substrate.
When performing scratches, use a scratch with a hard tip. The scratches should have a parallel or widened section on both sides. The scratch width of the metal substrate is 0.2mm-1.0mm, unless otherwise specified.
You can draw one or two scratches. Unless otherwise specified, the scratches should be parallel to the long side of the test panel.
Tools for scratch marks should be uniform. No other tools are allowed.
For aluminum sheet substrates, the two scratches should be perpendicular to each other but not intersected. One scratch should be parallel to the rolling direction of the aluminum sheet, and the other scratch should be perpendicular to the rolling direction of the aluminum sheet.
